FAQ

+ What is professional coaching?

The International Coaching Federation, to which I belong, defines coaching as:

ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain and complex environment. Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole.

As a professional coach, I align my approach with what you want to achieve.

• I encourage you to be open to self-discovery.
• I help you develop solutions and strategies.
• I hold you responsible and accountable for execution and outcomes

This process has succeeded in improving clients’ outlook on career and life. It helps clients hone their leadership skills and unveil their potential.

+ What is the Sequel Strategic Coaching Partnership process for individuals?

I start with an informational session to ensure I understand you and your goals. We discuss scheduling, session frequency, and anything that’s relevant to achieving your desired outcomes. During that session, I also provide information about the International Coaching Federation Code of Ethics, which I abide by as a member.

You will get a welcome package that requests information from you and that provides you with some thought-provoking questions to prepare you for your first coaching session. I will also ask you to complete the online Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) assessment to provide an immediate launching point for individual learning and a foundation for future coaching and development sessions.

During our sessions, I will guide you in clarifying, defining, exploring, challenging, experimenting, setting goals and action plans, and evaluating results. We will continue until you achieve your business or leadership goals.

+ What will I pay for a Sequel Strategic Coaching Partnership?

To reap the benefits of individual change and goal achievement, an individual coaching partnership should be a minimum of at least six months. I generally recommend one- to two-hour sessions twice per month. A six-month strategic coaching partnership typically begins at $500 per month.

Some clients request weekly meetings to focus on a specific project or initiative or monthly meetings on an ongoing basis after we finish the initial six-month coaching partnership.

+ How does Sequel Professional Development work with teams?

Team sessions are fun, energizing, and effective. Through my human resources career and experience, I’ve seen teams fail when management used ineffective blanket training methods and one-size-fits-all solutions that treat team members as one unit.

Studies have shown that individual self-awareness on teams is a critical requirement for effective team functioning. To facilitate that self-awareness, I use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), a tool that activates your team because it identifies and builds on personality and type strengths. It provides insight that can immediately be put to practical use.

As soon as you decide to partner with Sequel, you will receive a welcome packet with next steps—including access to the online MBTI assessment and information to prepare your team for an on-site four-hour workshop. I schedule an initial meeting with team leadership to establish specific goals and outcomes for the workshop and gain understanding about the strengths and opportunities of your team.

After completing the workshop, your team will receive a surprise package to open at your next staff meeting. This package will contain valuable tools and exercises to continue the momentum and encourage your team members to use what they learned in the workshop on a daily basis.

Teams find the foundational Myers-Briggs learning so valuable and practical that they often invite me back to help them delve deeper into areas such as sales, customer service, communications, and team dynamics.

+ How much does the team Myers-Briggs workshop cost?

The team workshop fee is $175 per participant. Each participant will receive their own individual assessment results in a report, along with information on each of the 16 personality types. The team will also receive a chart with all participants’ results for future use in planning and executing of projects, initiatives, and other team endeavors.
